New faculty Position - Clinical and Metabolic Genetics - Hospital for Sick Children

Biochemical Geneticist

Effective January 1st, 2008, a new faculty position is available in the Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics, the Hospital for Sick Children is an academic health science centre affiliated with the University of Toronto. The Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics had a long tradition of excellence in clinical care, education and innovative research. Independent and collaborative clinical and basic research is performed by Division members. The Division consists of both residency and fellowship training programs which are fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Canadian College of Medical Genetics. The Division and the University of Toronto co-sponsor the MSc program for Genetic Counsellors.

This position is defined for a clinician specialist in inborn errors of metabolism, who will concentrate primarily on clinical care and education and will also conduct patient based research. The candidate can be either an individual with an established focus of expertise, or a recent graduate interested in developing such expertise and working within a well established multidisciplinary team.

Further, the successful candidate should have completed or be eligible for a Fellowship in Genetics (FRCPC or CCMG) and will be appointed at the University of Toronto at an appropriate Professorial level. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. This position will remain open until filled.
